Seagate HDD with Dave technology

Seagates Dave technology is to make data on PDAs and mobile phones available. A forgotten Notebook or the stolen PDA will not lead then no more to calling a presentation off. Reason: Business customers are to be able to receive a High speed entrance over the portable radio net from orange UK on all their server data. There is no local storage in the equipment. The portable radio receiver is integrated in a mini non removable disk of Seagate. This again sends data by means of Bluetooth or WLAN to the mobile phone or PDA.

Seagate developed its digital audio video
Experience (DAVE) for the data communication of mobile non removable disks on Smartphones or PDAs. At the end of January 2007 presented to Seagate the non removable disk for the trouser pocket (code name “Crickett”) of the public. In the external mini non removable disk transfers the Bluetooth-2.0 or the WLAN module (802.11b/g) data to terminal removed up to nine a meter. So mobile telephones, which have only a small internal memory, can play memory of films or scan large data sets.

After manufacturer data the small non removable disk is equipped with ten or 20 GByte storage location. It can wait owing to own lithium ion Akku up to 14 days in the Standby enterprise for Bluetooth instructions.

Seagate wants to test this service as well as orange Business-services UK. The testing phase will show whether such a service will be available for German customers also soon.
