ATI Radeon hp 2900 without UVD

Hardware & Others
One of the new features of the Radeon hp 2000 series and concomitantly the ATI Radeon hp 2900 XT diagram map was summarized by AMD under the term “Avivo hp”. Some of it is the “Unified video decoder” (UVD), which is to reduce the CCU load clearly when playing High definition video. Which only became now correctly clear: those so far as the only Radeon hp 2000 series available diagram map, the 2900 XT, does not possess the UVD.
The Unified video decoder, which for the decoding of (High definition) Videostreams is responsible, which clearly lowers the requirements to the system processor and/or the load of CCU and also Rendering pipelines of the diagram chip, is only part of the RV610 and RV630 diagram chip of the ATI Radeon hp 2400 and 2600 maps. The ATI Radeon hp 2900 XT is naturally nevertheless problem-free able to bring High definition Videostreams on the screens but evenly without the UVD and with it probably with proportionally higher CCU load than Radeon hp 2400 and 2600. To say exactly that does not leave itself yet, because AMD published still no driver for the Radeon hp 2900 XT, which uses the “full” Multimedia abilities of the new diagram map.
Also Hartware.net assumed so far and after study of numerous documents with AMD the UVD is integrated in the R600 diagram chip of the ATI Radeon hp 2900 XT. However we could be led here like many different also on the ice, because the remarks of AMD are in this regard not wrong, but nevertheless somewhat imprecise. That applies also to the information on the Website of AMD. There on the one hand with the specifications of the ATI Radeon hp 2900 XT are referred as feature “Avivo hp” specified, on the other hand with the explanation of Avivo hp to “Smooth hp video Playback with UVD”, what implies that the UVD part of Avivo hp and thus the ATI Radeon hp is 2900 XT.
